Salim

Salim is an old acquaintance of us. In 2015 Salim stayed with us for a few months. Unfortunately, he was not ready for structure in his life at the time. He disappeared from the face of the earth and we thought he had been taken in by another home or was back with his family. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We met him again in the streets of Mombasa and picked him up.

He does well and is a boy with a lot of humor. He has a very nice smile and often shows it. He likes to play games and helps enormously in the house. Sometimes he takes some time for himself and you see him sitting somewhere in the compound to come reflect and come at peace.

We have brought Salim into contact with his family. Salim has eight brothers and sisters. Poverty always drove Salim back to the street. Doing small jobs and begging for extra money has finally kept him on the street. Salim is a caring boy and even during his life on the street, he kept money aside to give to his mother for food for his brothers and sisters.

He has been in school since January 2017. He really wants to learn and become smart, so that he can become a manager of a bank. With this position he expects to earn a lot of money to help his mother, stepfather, brothers and sisters.

During one of the family visits we saw how much he wanted to live at home again. He missed everyone so badly. However, his mother did not want this. We have prepared and given her the time to think about it. Fortunately, the mother accepted the replacement of Salim and he has been living with his family since December 2017. It is going very well and he is very happy.
