BeHoCa Foundation was founded in July 2012 by Melissa Kreps. This is to offer a promising future to as many street children as possible, in Kenya.
During her study Social Work, Melissa did an internship in South Africa in 2009. This beautiful and unforgettable experience returned her to Africa after she graduated. Melissa ended after a wonderful tour in Mombasa, Kenya.
In Kenya Melissa has been allowed to work with street children. While working with these children, Melissa found that children are being deprived in many areas. ‘The children are so keen to change, to go to school and to live as a child without worries. But this remains a dream for many of them. It is our mission to support these children in achieving a promising future.’
BeHoCa Foundation has a board with five members:
• Chairman: Melissa Kreps
• Vice-chairman: Marja van Garderen
• Secretary: Anke Meersta
• Treasurer: José Kreps
• PR & web designer
The foundation is a non-profit organization. This means that we, the board, and the volunteers who support us, do not receive any compensation for our participation in the foundation. We do this work with our heart and soul for the street children of Kenya.
Since 3 July 2012, the tax authorities have recognized the BeHoCa Foundation as a Public Benefit Organization (ANBI). For the foundation, this means that we do not have to pay gift tax and inheritance tax on your donation and on receiving inheritances. An ANBI status also brings tax benefits for you as a donor. Gifts that you, as a private individual or business, donate to BeHoCa Foundation are, within the applicable rules, deductible from the tax authorities!
